gethsemene is an ongoing series of landscape photographs made in the vicinity of my home in the Stour Valley, South Warwickshire, provoking metaphorical choices of passage, however also suggesting that these paths are not clearly defined. Gethsemene embodies my own notions of remoteness, contemplation and the questioning of faith.

There would appear to be recurring evidence in the process of producing  visceral environmental photography - repetition, revision, rephotography and dedication to the narrative.

Perhaps the solitude, space and outdoor elements allow the practitioner the time and ability to consider more deeply, the frame and content to convey a more emotive experience for the viewer.

The photographer haunts the environment and the viewer is the haunted.
